gold leaf yum cha

After...er... 8 months of dragging on and on... we finally got our asses to gold leaf for yumcha. 

I got my first real pay yesterday, so according to a lil pack we made a few months back, i thought i'd follow through with it and let today be my lil treat :) and plus ive been da only one always whinging to be taken there after all lol.

Argh i know its been ages and ages since updating this food blog... tho i really dont think i have the energy to keep doing this as regularly as before with work and all nowadays... plus there are so many posts to catch up on from before that i wana put up >< so i think from now on im gona keep these short and sweet and let the pictures do the talking~ haha.

Quite a good place, the decor and all but i reckon Taipan was better overall. The lady who let me take pics of the egg tarts there last time made me like it even more since it was prob the best and memorable service i can remember at an asian place :P

Well, after a few hours hopeless shopping at westfield, i took amy wee to Monga for her pre-dinner dessert haha.

Day 4 ~ (16th Oct)

Yum Cha at Sydney's top recommended place, Marigold - a perfect hangover cure! :P Though this place wasn't as good as Zilver's last time.

 

 

We eventually worked out which bus to take us to Balmain in search of the famous patisserie by Adriano Zumbo. 

And just like the other raved about places we went... there was nothing short of a line of people to get in.

 The cake displays were already like 2/3 empty when we got there...

 It was a hard choice, but we managed to pick our four. (even though we wanted to get MORE lol)

So we kept being told to go to the insanely popular Malaysian restaurant Mamak in Chinatown but the wait in the line could be over an hour long. But we had nothing else to do after our walk back from Darling Harbour... so we decided to wait since the line at the time didn't reach around the corner YET. lol

 We got to watch em make roti in the window - so pro how they do it so fast and it's so paper thin.  

Then finally about half an hour later we seated... so it wasn't as bad of a wait I guess.

One of the best Mee Goreng I can remember. 

OMG this drink (Teh Tarik)  is AMAZINGLY GOOD! It's a classic Malaysian sweetened tea, ‘stretched’ for a frothy topping. Seriously loved it!

The famous original Roti Canai: Served with two curry dips and spicy sambal sauce.

We also tried the a sweet roti too - Roti Kaya served with icecream

Our complimentary starter - it was so tiny n cute! We were told what it was... but it sounded so complicated we had no idea in the end haha.

Slow braised milk fed Suffolk lamb, comté custard, heirloom carrots, roasted almonds, quinoa, cumin

Free range chicken breast cooked slowly with truffle butter, spring vegetables, young garlic cream, jamon & oloroso juices

Eight texture chocolate cake Featuring Amedei Chocolate

It was really rich...and we couldn't exactly distinguish 8 either..

The BESTEST dish. Loved this dessert so much!!! It definitely lives up to it's Masterchef hype~ The ice was absolutely delish! and the runny yellow stuff inside the egg was so nice too. Just perfectly sweet and refreshing! =) i suppose it made it worth the trip?? lol

And if that wasn't enough... we went to Mizuya (Again!) for Karaoke at 10pm.

We had $260 of food and drinks to kill in like 2.5 hours LOL. It got to a stage where i just cud not be stuffed with photos anymore coz there was too many dishes that kept being brought into our room every like 5-10 mins. and everyone was too focused on trying to finish the drinks before time was up for it to be taken away. lol.

Trio of Desserts - The Green Tea Creme Brule was quite good.
