chanel cake

Last month ~ (19th June 2010) I was lucky enough to be offered a gig to do princess's sister's 21st photography at Baroq House (which was also my very first paid freelance job - meaning a mini achievement for me :D)

Anyhows, besides being able to get a chance to hand out some business cards and all, the best part was i got to try the fancy bday cake she had! :P

Even though I'm no massive fan of Chanel or nothing, tho it sure looked fancy as! And usually you don't expect these stunning looking cakes to taste that great, since usually that icing layer used to make it look so cool would be rubbery and taste crap but actually this one was pretty nice!! The cupcakes came in both vanilla and choc, and mine being vanilla tasted light and fluffy so enjoyed it very much hehe

lounge

Last night, would prob of been the last of our group meals with natta for nows since he is mr. popular and busy lol. We went to this place on swanston that I've past a million times but never really considered going upstairs into called Lounge. It was a very large and open laid back bar/lounge place with pool tables and a balcony. The parma was apparently pretty good, so i gave it a go :) It went unfinished due to its massive size though. lol

my failed zubrowka (somehow got told it was to be mixed with soda and lime instead of more commonly apple juice - which I did not know till afterwards unfortunately ><) so instead of it tasting awesome...it just tasted like disappointing fizz water :( sorry dad i know im a noob lol

snowww

Omg yesterday was super fun! Finally got to go on a final trip to the snow with daddy before he leaves. And absolutely perfect weather conditions to top it off too! It was so warm that we had to take layers off! lol.

I was expecting to of lost the knack of skiing and be trying to re-gain confidence again at first since it's been a whole year, but strangely enough it all came back to me the moment i got up the top and took off down! wooo :) And the best improvement is that i even made it down intermediate runs this time! Shaky Knees sounded terrifying coz of the name but not knowing what level run it was totally helped! mentally had left all the fear behind and just went down without thinking nor stacking! The little blue spur was damn scary but still made it down in da end after a many massive crashes lols. But at least it was no where as bad as that traumatising black run Dana and i got stuck walking on last year.

Anyways i was heaps glad i was not the only girl for once! Its RARE! It was just so funny ganging up and asking natta 20 questions (which prob ended up being like 50 Qs haha) about chix and relationships and all that. hehe. Somehow we got from the one freezer question into a world of random hypotheticals that he struggled in answering us. hahah I bet it was a helpless 3 hrs drive for him whilst probably being the most highly entertaining car ride for us!! hehehe =D

GOOD TIMES.

Damn im really gona miss these...
Well i guess the aim is: in two years time, we'll have to go do this all again just like old times (just with improved skiing skills hopefully)

Just got back from crown where we had a hot and spicy family feast tonight :D
but unfortunately it may be one of the last times we get a chance to do this kinda thing all together :(

Argh feel so full now ><" duno how i'm gona sleep, especially with all da sugar from the pepsi i just drank..lol so yeah on quite a soft drink high atm... mmm gosh i feel like a loser haha.
And yeah yeah yeah, i am totally aware it's just KFC... so it's not really picture worthy and whatever, but hey it's still good times, good memories man.

the grampians

Dana bananas & me did a road trip up to The Grampians last month ~ (3rd June 2010)

Man soooooo dissapointed in myself!! Cannot believe I forgot to pick up my camera bag when leaving that morning!! I was in sucha rush that I grabbed all my other bags and left my dslr bag on my bed. arghhhhh and it wasnt till 2 hours in the car that I realised what I had done!! So unfortunately I was stuck trying to take spectacular photos with my very un-spectacular digital compact... *sighs*

But yea, we stayed at an awesome self contained unit (that was much to big for us... =.=) at Halls Gap. Anyways we had a whole kitchen to play with so here are our cooking efforts..hehe

last meal with all my teeth

Crown with the boys for dinner and bowling~ (27th April 2010) to have my final meal the night before my oral surgery to take out my 4 wisdom teeth and had 2 weeks ahead of just congee, mashed stuff, porridge, soup etc. Anyways, princess suggested The Pub for the cheap ass tuesday specials haha.

After bowling we went to cafe Grecco downstairs in crown. man that place is probably one of my fav dessert places. I just wana drool whenever i walk pass it and see all the gigantic cakes in the displays hehe! Well everyone had coffee and that, while me and daddy shared this yummy cheesecake. It was a pretty huge slice and I'd say it's definitely too rich for one.

Mars Bar Cheesecake - this has gotta be thee most memorable cheesecake to date~ yum yum yummy!

steamed pandan sponge

I thought I'd have a go at a quick azn styled cake - steamed pandan sponge.
It turned out much prettier than I had hoped coz i expected it to be all break out with air holes and everything since it was steamed, but it was a pleasant surprise when i took em out at how smooth the surfaces were. I just used two rice bowls as the moulds lol since i only made a lil bit of mix.


Upside down > the shape of these somehow remind me of jam donuts..?

Ah~~ finally had a chance to go on my proposed ride with daddy this arvo :) 15 km in 1.5 hours = 10 km/hr ...hehe i'm pretty proud of that lil achievement for my low fitness level :D but not so much for him tho coz he reckons it's poor as! lol. Pffft well easy for Mr. "RIDE FASTER"+"DONT STOP"+"CMON ENOUGH REST"+"KEEP MOVING" to SAY! oh gee scary it's like commando hitler telling me off the whole way or somethin..ahahah nah but it's good, i thank him for pushing me so yea i can definitely feel the pain through my legs atm, and im sure that and my sore butt will be tormenting me more tmr too. haha

Anyways, we dropped by Danny's Burgers in Fitzroy for a kilojoule treat on our way back :p since it's like apparently voted to have 'melbourne's best burgers'.

It was an old school kinda joint inside, with a retro diner feel to it - red round stools along a counter, chalkboard menus, etc. I guess it's all apart of the history of the store since it has been around ever since 1945!

Well I'm not sure if it really is THE BEST BURGER in town, since i haven't really had THAT many burgers besides fast food so i cant really judge that, but yesss it was pretty tasty!

P.S. Speaking of burgers reminds me of IN & OUT back in America! oh they were reallllly good man.

It's been agessss since i've blogged here. OPPS. Oh well time to catch up now on the happenings of the past month since i do have a stack of pics that i took but just never had the chance to upload and stuff. SHALL DO SOON :)

banana's bday

Dana bananas had her 23rd last night. So me and becks decided to go get her these cute lil cupcakes from this tiny lil store in hidden away in Degraves st called Little Cupcakes. (Off topic but man i jst love their logo...the design's so cute!!) Anyways i have to go back there and actually TASTE their cakies next time!!

Anyways we got her an assortment of the mini cupcakes (Belgium Chocolate, Orange & Poppy seed, Pistachio & Orange Jaffa)

We had Korean BBQ at a place called WooGa (means beef in Korean) near Victoria Market. It was pretty worth it since we had 4 people and we ordered this package that came with 3 types of meat, rice and a pot of soup plus all the usual kimchi and stuff. Only thing was...we had no idea what meat we were eating sadly. I think it was all beef though. Hmm for some reason the meat wasn't marinated...so it was kinda un-exciting. Oh and half of our meat got overcooked so it was pretty tough, we didn't end up finishing it all either.

We ordered an additional seafood pancake as well which was pretty nice.

Overall food was not bad~ tho the service could have been better though - it took over half of our meal before anyone brought us water!! And then they bought a jug of water but didn't give us any cups till like we were almost done? =.= Anways, we had time to kill before dana had to go start her night shift. Everyone besides me had never tried the cakes at Gerco in Crown so we ended up there for dessert. For some odd reason it took forever to get served there as well which usually isn't like that.. anyhow we got two to share amongst us, so I recommended the Mars Bar Cheesecake that me and daddy had last time, while the bday girl picked the black forest cake.
